Building for Christ and the Church

Our mission is to promote the ministry of the church by providing a camp setting that exalts Jesus Christ; a place where people can gather to exercise body, mind and spirit for personal growth in the beauty of God’s Creation through recreation, outdoor learning activities, fellowship, nurture and the worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The OMCA was incorporated in 1953 with the purpose of building a summer youth camp. The scope of the ministry has expanded throughout the years to include a variety of programs for all ages year-round. Camp Luz is named for the place where Jacob met God as found in Genesis 28:19.

  • Summer camps for children and youth
Week long camps are organized for ages seven to eighteen. Our vision is to provide a positive camping experience which will help campers better understand and appreciate nature, others and themselves; and especially what it is to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
  • Year-round programmed retreats and events for youth, young adults and families
As “Another place God is” Camp Luz provides a setting that allows participants a chance to “get away” from the normal routines and provides opportunities for spiritual growth. Two-night retreats include: Jr. High Winter Retreat, Fall Youth Retreat, Young Adult Retreat, Men’s and Women’s Retreat, Ohio Hispanic Retreat and Home Educators Family Retreat. Day events include programs for senior citizens, maple syrup festival and work days.
  • Accommodations and recreational facilities for church and family reunion groups
Camp Luz offers both self-contained facilities and cabins with dormitory style sleeping areas. A variety of recreational activities in a wooded, natural setting enhance the retreat experience.
